Tesla Model 3 Performance 2024: Scary Fast but Frustratingly Delayed

Tesla Model 3 performance

Tesla Model 3 performance: Tesla has started delivery of Model 3 performance across the globe but most launch date orders are still to be dispatched/assigned a VIN. We look at some of the facts about the situation at hand and how it is turning out to be a frustrating experience for enthusiasts who are getting impatient with each passing day.

A quick recap, they started taking orders for Tesla Model 3 performance on 23-Apr-2024 with an estimated delivery date of May to June for most of the customers. A lot of customers started getting definite delivery windows only to be disappointed by an ever-increasing timeline. It looks like either Tesla is running into production issues or they underestimated the demand. It can also be a case of poor planning on their part.

For some strange reason, Tesla seems to be producing white interior models only for now and most of the assigned VINs are for vehicles with white interiors. This is counter-intuitive considering the demand for black interiors trumps the white by 2:1.

Several users are also reporting delivery timelines extending to Aug & Sept! At the same time, there are instances of pre-configured vehicles available to be picked up instantly but with configurations different than placed orders by early adopters. It’s a bit baffling the decipher the production planning model used by Tesla – they are producing cars that seem to have lower demand while frustrating early adopters with each passing day.

To add insult to injury, the delivery timeline is constantly changing – sometimes getting pre-pulled and mostly getting pushed back. The website delivery timelines seem to be very aggressive surprisingly and it looks like they are to lure new buyers to place orders. The buyers are soon dished out revised timelines which are later than the original promise. The price of the car has also seen a hike and the configuration pricing also has been adjusted.

Keeping the enthusiasts waiting for too long while wasting production capacity on low-demand trims is a double whammy. In today’s times where an electric car is launched every day and the competition is ever-increasing, we sincerely hope that Tesla gets its act together and starts delivering orders taken on launch day. It has been nearly a month and only a fraction of launch day orders seem to have been delivered so far.
